Anthropic is expanding its startup program with a package aimed at lowering the cost of testing and building on its AI models. Eligible companies can now get a free year of Claude Team, Anthropic’s paid group plan, plus $1,000 in API credits.

The updated Claude for Startups program was announced Tuesday during Anthropic’s SF Tech Week event. In addition to the Team subscription and API credits, participating companies will also get access to Claude Marketplace, where they can build plug-ins for the service, and they can book virtual office hours with Anthropic’s Applied AI team.
What the program includes
Claude Team is Anthropic’s paid plan for groups; the startup offer covers up to five premium seats for one year. The API credits are meant for companies building products with Claude rather than only using the app.
The Marketplace access and office hours point to a broader goal: helping founders move from experimenting with the model to integrating it into their own products.
Who can apply
Anthropic says companies are eligible if they were founded in the last five years or received funding in the last two years. Interested startups can apply through the Claude for Startups program page.
Why it matters
The offer is another example of AI companies using startup programs to seed adoption early. For founders, the practical value is straightforward: reduced near-term costs, direct support, and a set of tools tied to product development. For Anthropic, the strategy is to deepen relationships with companies that may build customer-facing products on top of Claude rather than only through direct app usage.
Anthropic framed the program as part of its view that the benefits of AI will reach most people through companies building on top of models, not just through the models themselves.
